• End the Microsoft Teams Process in Task Manager

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type taskmgr and click OK to open the Task Manager.
  3. In the Process tab, look for any tasks associated with Microsoft Teams.
  4. Select the process and click End task.
  5. Close Task Manager and launch the Microsoft Teams app. Check if the app works without crashing.

If the problem persists, perform a restart. A quick restart will force end all the background processes and help resolve issues due to temporary glitches.

 

  • Sign Out and Quit the Teams App

An easy workaround for the Teams app crashing issue requires you to sign out and quit the app. Once done, you should be able to sign in and use the app without any issues.

To sign out of Microsoft Teams:

  1. Launch the Teams app on your PC.
  2. Next, click on your Profile icon and select Sign Out in the top-right corner.

  1. On the Teams (Work or School) version, the Sign Out option is at the bottom of the context menu.
  1. Once you log out, close the Teams' sign-in window that appears. This should exit the app.

  1. Next, open the System Tray and check if the Microsoft Teams icon exists. If yes, right-click on the Teams icon and select Quit.
  1. Next, relaunch the app and sign in. Check for any improvements.
  • Clear Microsoft Teams Cache

Additionally, you can clear the Microsoft Teams cache from the AppData folder to fix the crashing problem. Clearing the cache will fix issues triggered due to corrupted app cache.

This method is useful if you are using the Teams (School or Work) version of the app.

To delete Microsoft Teams cache:

  1. Make sure the Teams app is closed. Also, quit the app from the system tray.
  2. Next, press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  3. Next, copy and paste the following path in the Run dialog and click OK:

%appdata%MicrosoftTeams

  1. In the Teams folder, press Ctrl + A to select all the files and folders inside the folder.
  2. Next, right-click and select Delete, or press the Del key on your keyboard.
  3. Close File Explorer and restart your PC. Now restart the Teams app and sign in with your credentials.
  • Reinstall Microsoft Teams App

As a last resort, you can reinstall the Microsoft Teams app to fix the crashing problems. A quick reinstall can help you fix problems caused due to app file corruption and other reasons.

To uninstall Microsoft Teams:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
  2. Locate the Microsoft Teams app and click the three-dots menu next to the app name.
  3. Select Uninstall. Then, click Uninstall again to confirm the action and uninstall the app.
  4. Next, open the Microsoft Teams download page.
  5. Select your Windows version and click the Download button.
  6. Run the download package and install the app.
